Our nanny took Friday off to attend Faster Horses - the country music festival, so I've heard. So John and Oscar and I went to Chicago!
Grand Hall in Union Station: "still fresh?"
"OMZ no put your arm down!"
Out on the streets of Chicago, finding our way to our ride
Why yes, that is a taxi!
And yes, we did sit on the upper deck!
We arrived at the Navy Pier, a good oldfashioned tourist trap, redesigned for the modern era. We had two goals: eat lunch, and ride the Ferris wheel
We got a gondola to ourselves!
Multiple go-rounds later, we were also ready for some cold treats. Oscar got ice cream, we think it might have been superman flavor (gross) but it tasted delicious. I had raspberry shave ice with boba that exploded with juice. John had lemonade with classic chewy tapioca boba, which he was not pleased with in the end.
And then - a ride back to Union Station, courtesy of the same water taxi crew that brought us in!
John maybe got a bit worn out.
One of the many very tall buildings. As we were riding back to the station, Oscar mentioned that next time we should go to some of the famous buildings and learn about the architecture and stuff like that. Right-o!
Civic opera building!
Genuine city pigeons, those.
Heading to our train, I casually suggested taking the escalator instead of stairs. Oscar stepped on right behind me. John faked himself out and got caught at the top! The group behind us coached him on what I believe was his very first escalator ride. At the end he had no problems hopping off, and we all cheered.
The train platforms have some interesting looking columns.
Ready to travel again!
This time with the DS - Pichu evolved, Litten became Torracat. A productive ride!
And at the Battle Creek stop, I documented the presence of that wondrous plant, Verbascum thapsus.
What does Monday have in store? Tune in next time for more adventures of boys in summer!
