The Doctor is in!

Dr. Fleming here - it is done! We did it! There will be some pictures soon I think but until then, know that I did great, the committee passed me, and everyone signed the stupid pieces of paper so I can officially graduate. Yay!

8-4

Oscar's been chilling in John's car seat, and then he wanted John to sit on top of him. This weekend we carved a watermelon brain. And I went to the dentist today and found out I need a root canal! Luckily there's lots of watermelon to comfort myself with.

Spit a hug

Margaret was teaching Oscar how to blow a kiss. Oscar thought that was boring and instead invented spitting a hug. This is Margaret's first attempt at this complicated maneuver.

8-2

This blog has over 500 posts! Go team!

I am very busy productively procrastinating: here are some videos and photos to entertain everyone.

John is figuring out grabbing things and putting them in his mouth. He went to the pediatrician on Tuesday, who said that he is an advanced baby! He has excellent "trunkal strength" and face tracking skills. He is 26 inches and 13 pounds 10 oz, which means he is still a string bean but also he is still growing, so no worries. Oscar has learned about Photo Booth on my computer and loves taking pictures of himself (duh). He also likes to give John the panda bear (analog to Oscar's elephant) whenever he notices John is without.

I got some glasses and a new haircut, both of which make me feel much smarter. The dissertation is over 100 pages long and there is much more to go! Eric is being a champion at wrangling Oscar (he is the de facto putter-to-bed, since I am usually feeding John, and has fully developed his repertoire of silly voices for reading Goodnight Moon the nth time) and keeping the house functioning while I am in this rabbit hole. But in two short weeks I can start paying attention again!

Here is John trying hard to grab toys even though he has a perfectly good one in front of him:

And here is John with a birthday speech for his cousins!
