Recent Doings

We have been very busy having fun.  We try to do as much as possible on the weekends to keep the kids entertained and keep us from getting to stir crazy.  Plus Michigan summer is soooooo nice.

We have been going to the children's garden adjacent to out work often. We took the kids there one weekend and then Oscar suggested we have dinner there one night during the week (picnic style) and then we biked there the next weekend.

Edie keeping cool in all the ways possible.

We also try and go to the MAC often, we have to make our membership count! Oscar passed the swim test so he can ride the crazy slide even though he is not quite 4ft tall yet. He is very proud and so are we. Here is him exiting the slide in style.

We received our patent award plaques the other day.  The are very shiny and official.  We both put them in our office ASAP...

I finally got all three of them up on their tower. Pocky likes to go nuts biting the dangling mice every night.  I think she is secretly still a kitten.

This is my office on the third floor. It is a nice blue with some fun patterns on the wall around the windows. I find it very cozy, especially with the fluorescent lights off.

The department keeps harassing me to get the room painted beige like everyone else.  I have told them repeatedly I like it blue. The office lady in charge of such things had the audacity to tell me it hurts her eyes to look at and so I should change it but I don't see why I should care about that.  Also this is further encouragement to make it even more exciting...Maybe a mural?!!??  They even tried to sneak in here today with their painters "just to take a look" but I was working with the door shut so I gave them quite a surprise when they let themselves in and I was there to say  "no way jose!...I mean Debra" to their face.

Here is my lab photos....its still being purged of the last persons chemicals and things. Its a massive job but it is getting there. It has a bright red wall (the whole floor does in the labs) and no one cares about that!

And finally some local fauna:

EL Mega Post

Eric here. I haven't uploaded anything from my phone since forever...so here it is!  Everything that has gone down since we moved.

Our first day in EL.

Pictures from our first tour of Patriarch Park.  This park is just down the road a bit and it is huge!

The boys really liked this giant spider to climb on.

Then it was time for hair cuts, so of course we had to do before and afters.  It should all be back in time for winter.

There are some impressively black squirrels here.

What do you do with all of your moving boxes?

It was really wet for the first month we were here.  The boys collected every mushroom (and one dandelion) at the local park and piled them on me...

Margaret's bee-you-tea-ful window boxes:

This friendly fellow that was sitting just outside the passenger door of the car at Edie's daycare during morning drop off.

John loves the sandbox...especially making volcanoes and getting the sand all wet. He does alone time right!

The park just down the street where the farmers market is held.

A meeting of the most outgoing neighbors.  Margaret and Edie were welcomed into their ranks.

The splash park (about ten min drive away).  Oscar and John are very brave now that they have been swimming everyday.  Oscar's favorite is getting buckets of water auto-dumped on his head.  John likes being dangerous and running full speed all over the park...

Breakfast is a perfect combo of fun, danger, and eating...especially for Edie.

We have some very large pill bugs and John has befriended them all.

Edie is getting more and more into books.

We have yard bunnies again!  They eat all of the seedlings Margaret and the boys planted but it's still nice to be in a place with rabbits again.
The kids like them as well.

Some candid photos of Edie's birthday.  Present opening was not Edie exclusive and Oscar and John pounced on the opportunity to play with the new goods.

Also, a little birthday pool trip at the Athletic Club to celebrate both M and E's birthdays.

We have a friendly neighborhood Mo-cat impersonator...Pocky is very interested in him.

Speaking of cats we got them this deluxe cat condo so they can chill.
