Classic Colorado, it's snowing today, and sometimes raining. It's not that cold out actually, so Oscar and I went for a little walk and he got to stomp in the river (in the gutter) and float leaves down it and pick up rocks. Just a few days ago Eric remarked that it's finally toast weather, because it was warmer and our butter that sits on the counter was finally spreadable. He was right, and we've eaten a lot of butter. But now that it's cold again the toast consumption is going down.
Last night Oscar was having an epic good time and Eric managed to get this video. I added subtitles/close-captioning so you don't miss any of the good stuff. The "pirates that hunt monsters" song is the very best.

Cat children
Oscar has learned that Garage will play with him and a string. He has also learned to pet the cats gently, from front to back, and now he often declares "Pocky is my best bud!" At dinner last night he fed John bites of his cereal bar and yogurt and pet John on the head before saying "John is my best bud!"
Last night I showed him that you could tuck the end of the string into your pants and pretend it is a tail, but then he was very sad to put on onesy pajamas that precluded a tail.
John, like all good cat babies, loves chasing the string too.
Here they all are, rampaging again.
Also, we were pleased to welcome Blanche Fox Steenman into our home last night, courtesy of Amazon. Oscar and John were quickly introduced to the Indian War Dance and the Wild Horseman, played with healthy vigor if not aplomb. The things your fingers can remember!

oh, the stupid body tricks
This was our dinner a few nights ago. Now sometimes when the boys can't sleep they communicate in their own soggy language.

Safety first
I love John's hip protectors! He looks a lot like a doll in that outfit, I guess.
I had my helmet on too, of course. We rode to school on Friday, Sunday, and yesterday - great success! Eric no longer takes both kids by himself though. Today it's raining, and we need cat food, so we're taking a little break.

The state of the gardens
I have some earlier pictures of the garden but they will wait for another day...
I hope you like orange tulips!

A special present for me!
This came in the mail today (thx Amazon!). We took it for a spin around the block (I mean Eric did) and it's just great! We're going to test it out tomorrow for the commute, now that John's old enough for such adventures.

Walkin' John
Close relative of hoppin' John.
I like in this one how he finds his secret stashed pacifier. Also it confirms that Erik Satie wrote excellent music for walking to.

Snow, again
I made myself a bouquet before the snow came. Here's what the tulips are looking like these days.

Here is the church, here is the steeple
We've been teaching Oscar a few tricks lately - different high-fives, how to interleave his fingers, and more! First up: see all the pea-pll. They sing the cat song in church, duh.
I have some yellow tulips (what! How?) but they are turning orange slowly (phew). I'm saving up the pictures, only the best will be shared.

Apologies to Eva!
This was supposed to be posted on Sunday, so Eva could see it before she took off for the jungles of Ecuador. But it is happening now instead...
There are many good videos to share with you, and garden pictures to come once the garden starts behaving (with all the flowers open in the shunshine), so we'll take it slow.
First up, the harp. Oscar's enjoying it now, and John hums into it like it's a kazoo. Then Eric gets down with his bad self a little. Good thing we have 8, one for everyone to slime on!
Tune in tomorrow!
